Mount Stewart makes a real connection in annual Christmas card competition
The Commissioner for Older People for Northern Ireland is delighted to announce the winner of the annual Christmas photography competition. The theme for the 2025 competition was ‘Connection’, with the aim of showing moments, connections and shared experiences that bring happiness and a sense of belonging to our community. This year’s winner is 64 year-old Christopher Ross from Belfast, whose photograph came with the caption, ‘The beauty of nature connects us all.’
Siobhan Casey, Commissioner for Older People commented on the winning image:
“I was thrilled by the response to this year’s Christmas photography competition. This is my first competition as Commissioner and I was impressed by the range and quality of the photographs we received. With over 30 photograph submissions, it’s heartening to see so many interpretations of this year’s theme of ‘Connection’ – all of which highlight the different ways which people see and engage with the people and world around them.
This year’s winner stood out to me because of the wonderful way it had the human connection of the couple on the bench and also their connection to the landscape.
I want to thank the many talented photographers who submitted their photographs to this year’s competition.’’
Christopher, who has won a £100 gift card of his choice, along with his winning photo featuring on the Commissioner’s 2025 Christmas card said:
“I am very pleased to have my image chosen as the COPNI competition winner. Over the years my love of photography has been my own route to making connections with people, places and life events and every once in a while, you get that special shot!”
