The Commissioner for Older People is currently drafting his next corporate plan which will focus on his priorities from now until the end of his term in 2024.

The overarching theme will be ‘tackling ageism’. Ageism is the stereotyping, prejudice and/or discrimination of people based on their age, or perceived age and the Commissioner aims to address this by encouraging Government to improve policy and legislation affecting older people, examine why ageism happens and how to reduce it and educating the public on why ageism happens and how to stop it.
