It's that time of the year again! Our annual Christmas photography competition is back for 2022.

The Commissioner is seeking older people from across Northern Ireland to enter for this year’s theme of ‘joy’, to be in with a chance of winning a £100 voucher of their choice as well as their winning design being featured on COPNI’s Christmas card.

The Commissioner for Older People, Eddie Lynch said:

“This year has been another tough year for older people as we are moving away from the fears of COVID-19 to now face the cost-of-living and risks it poses to them.

The Christmas card competition is something my office has been doing for many years and I know it’s something many older people look forward to– this year I welcome entries more than ever, to give people a positive project to focus on during what will be a difficult period for many.”

“This year’s competition theme is ‘joy’. Despite everything, 2022 has created a sense of resilience and positivity through times of hardship. I want older people to reflect on any of the positives that have come from 2022 and focus on joy in the midst of adversity.

There are many ways to showcase joy across Northern Ireland, whether you believe that to be through our people, our sense of humour, our landmarks, scenery, or food- I’m excited to see how this theme is interpreted through the eyes of older people.

With the ageing population here in Northern Ireland, the competition is not only a chance to show off their photography skills but to also celebrate and showcase the contribution older people continue to make in our society.”

Entrants must be 60+ and are allowed to submit two photos per person. You can enter by emailing your photograph to communications@copni.org or sending it via COPNI’s Facebook including your name and contact details.

The competition will close 12 noon, Thursday 8th December so get snapping!
