“As you may be aware the PSNI have launched an investigation relating to safeguarding in the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
“I understand that this development may be of concern, particularly for older members of the community who may have connections with the Church or who may have questions about the implications of the investigation. I’m monitoring the situation closely to understand whether there are any emerging issues affecting older people.
“If any older person has concerns or requires advice, they are encouraged to contact police directly on 101 or via the dedicated email address: PCIenquiry@psni.police.uk. Victim Support NI is on hand to provide emotional and practical support. 028 9013 0405 (9am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and 9am to 9pm on Thursdays).
“As always, my priority remains the safety, wellbeing, and rights of older individuals. I will continue to liaise, as appropriate, with relevant authorities and will keep our networks informed should further information become available.”
